A lot of you are probably wondering what a UX Intern actually does. Is it something like assisting in the making of an interactive application? Or maybe designing a website layout from scratch? My answer to these questions is…sort of.
Currently, I am an UX Design intern at Laserbird, a company focused on disrupting the education industry by providing efficient and effective tools to teachers. Our platform is built with the teacher in mind, enabling them to share resources with multiple mediums such as video, whiteboard, documents and more. My role so far has been to wear many hats. I am currently working on the website, beginning with the customer journey/map and development of the final product.
The focus will be creating our visual identity, including the colors, fonts, and images to represent what we value. It will also include how our brand looks when applied to various marketing and communications materials.
The challenges I have faced is working out how to create compelling messages for the business. Which means writing and creating ideas that align with the goals, for a while I was a Marketing and Communications intern for CAST Schools so education is in my alley of experience.
This year I have been learning a lot about myself and the process of starting and working a business. Which I love, I have learned plenty! Not everything I learned is internship related, but it has inspired me! It feels good to be a part of a community.
I have a good boss/ leader, I am really learning about what I want as I continue to grow as a problem solver.
