SAY Sí [San Antonio Youth Yes] is a year-round, long-term, tuition-free arts program for high school and middle school students in San Antonio.
This project was a practicum, a quick practice of design, the medium was sound.
Often times we feel trapped whether its physical or emotional. With the help of guest artist Nadia Botello, we put such feelings into sound to make an installation that immersed the audience in the sounds that portray feelings of entrapment. We recorded birds hitting the cage and used Chabriely Rivera's (former SAY Sí student) voice in order to make this composition. We used a metal sheet to project the sound and behave as a speaker, this makes for a unique immersive experience using sound as a medium. By Nadia Botello, Chabriely Rivera, Jonathan Caleb Rodriguez
